5.0 out of 5 stars  Great book

I truly enjoyed this first novel by Kathleen Buckley. It is always refreshing to read books with women as the main characters. I will admit that I didn't totally figure out the killer until close to the end but that made it all the better for me.

I highly recommend this book for those who enjoyed the mystery novel genre but do not need all the 'blood and guts' that can make the reading feel too real.

I was up late two nights in a row reading and wishing for days with less requirements so I could jump back into the book.

I am looking forward to more time reading about Rosie and the Divas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reading Saving Bloomtown was like eating chocolate -- I couldn't stay away

You did it, Kathleen Buckley, you did it! You wrote an intriguing mystery that I got halfway through and suddenly didn't want to end. I began to read only a chapter at a time, then, between chapters, played a few games of Solitaire, washed dishes, scooped kitty litter, filed my nails, and delayed as long as I could. But the pull was strong. Before long, I eagerly jumped back in and read another chapter -- and another. I tore myself away again and again, but reading Saving Bloomtown was like eating chocolate -- I couldn't stay away.

Needless to say, I love the Divas. It was wonderful to see female main characters who are over 50 and dominate the storyline. And who Get Things Done.

Author Buckley's life experiences and excellent research -- on the North Carolina coast, in nursing home volunteering, Libraryland, and basic medical knowledge, and as a someone who enjoys life -- are very evident.

And yes, I very reluctantly finished this cozy mystery, was very surprised by who turned out to be the murderer. I am impatiently looking forward to Bloomtown and the Divas making a second appearance in a sequel.

I have to say it is well written and I was thoroughly into it. Then I got hit in the head with a chair. I didn't see that one coming.
